Moving

Family picture at Manito Park a few days before the move

Right after Brooks graduation, it was time to finish packing and getting ready to leave. Brooks, Sterling and Mark headed off for a couple days of hiking and everyone at our house continued to pack. My parents left Monday morning and took the boys with them. It was a huge lifesaver for us. Tuesday especially was pure chaos and I am so glad they were gone. That gave us time to finish packing and drive to AZ without kids. It also gave me time to go out with the girls and have one last hoorah shopping and eating out.

Wrapping Landon up for the move

We packed the toddler beds up a few weeks before the move and left the mattresses on the floor for the boys to sleep on. They ended up on the floor most of the time though.

My parents flew out of Pasco with the boys, but the flight ended up being delayed for a few hours. They had an adventurous time and the airport. I heard a rumor that all the passengers found seats as far away as possible from these two rambunctious boys. Not sure if the rumor is true.

Passing the time at the airport

Three years ago our little family, with twin 10 week old babies, packed up a moving van, waved goodbye to all our friends and family and headed out for our biggest adventure yet. We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into, but it turned out to be a time in our lives we will always treasure. We had our ups and downs especially at the beginning, but it was worth it. Leaving behind family forced us to branch out and find friends who we loved like family. We had Sunday dinners together, went on family trips, babysat each others kids, ran together, made meals for each other, chatted while the kids played, had fun and food filled girls nights, went on late night runs to Applebees, studied together and we all supported each other when finals rolled around. The last year of law school flew by and is a complete blur in some ways. The last month before we moved I kept thinking that I wasn't really ready for it to end yet. Brooks and I sat up late at night and talked about how much we love Spokane and how much we love the people we met there. Although I felt sad about leaving, my heart was overflowing with gratitude for the chance we had to have this stage of our lives. I can't really put into words how grateful I am for each and every person I met through our time in Spokane and for each and every experience we had there. Saying goodbye was not easy for any of us.

Brooks' Graduation

Brooks graduated from the law school at Gonzaga University on May 14, 2011 and we are insanely proud of him for this huge accomplishment! The graduation ceremony was better than I expected and I was a little emotional reminiscing on our three years in Spokane. As soon as the ceremony ended, the whole crowd stood and gave the graduates a standing ovation. Very cool. Law school was a ton of work for Brooks and a lot of work for me too on the outside looking in. We both learned a lot about life and ourselves.
