Out of the Mouth of Babes
I went back through our old Facebook posts and copied some of the best Landon and Elliot quotes over the years. It will be nice to have them in one place.
* Nov 24, 2010 - Me to my boys on the way home from church today: What was your lesson on in nursery?
Landon: Goats!
Elliot: No, the Holy Ghost!
*July 21, 2011 - This is the story of our life right now. Just a few more days to go...
Me: Where's Daddy?
Elliot: He's studying. He's studying all day.
* December 24, 2011 - The other day we drove by the hospital where Landon and Elliot were born. Now Landon says, "I was born by a hostipal and Jesus was born by sheeps."
* February 11, 2011 - Brooks to Elliot and Landon after Elliot stepped on a book: What is the rule about stepping on books?
Landon: Don't do it on purpose.
Landon is already on his way to becoming a great lawyer!
* Sept 28, 2011 - "Some bugs are nice and some bugs are mean and some bugs are dead." -- Elliot.
* Oct 3, 2011 - Landon, do you want to come play with me? (short pause while waiting for a response) Say "yes," Landon. - Elliot
* October 6, 2011 - Shelci and I took the kiddos up to Fremont Saddle to see Weaver's Needle.
Elliot: Where are we going?
Me: To Weaver's Needle.
Ten minutes later, Elliot: Where is the noodle rock?
* Nov 18, 2011 - Shelci to Elliot and Landon: I love you guys.
Elliot: I love you up to the moon and up to the sun and back.
Landon: I love you up to the earth.
Shelci: That's a lot!
Landon: No its not.
* January 17, 2012 - Landon must be feeling patriotic today.
"Dad, I love you up to the moon, and up to the stars, and up the American flag."
* February 12, 2012 - Landon: Do you know that Jesus makes the stars, Elliot?
Elliot: I never heard that before, but I liked when you said that.
* Feb 23, 2012 - Today, Landon told the doctor, "I talk a lot. That's because I have a mouth."
* March 18, 2012 - Me: Elliot, what was your lesson about today?
Elliot: It was about stickers and drawing.
* March 26, 2012 - Brooks helped the boys make me birthday cards. Landon insisted on writing a few specific things. Along with a few more basic comments, he also told me thank you for being his clock, thank you for being a refrigerator and that he loves me up to the American flag and the refrigerator. I love the stuff he comes up with!
* April 4, 2012 - Landon, after being asked what happened to his arm (bit by a little boy):
"Somebody just tried to eat me a little bit."
* June 26, 2012 - Elliot to Shelci: "Why do we live in a really hot place? It's annoying."
* July 18, 2012 - Elliot has this thing where he always wants someone to go with him when he needs to use the restroom.
E: Mom, can you go with me to the bathroom?
Me: Are you Batman or Superman?
E: I'm Batman.
Me: Do you think Batman's mom goes with him to the bathroom?
E: Well... I'm Superman.
* October 9, 2012 - Last night Elliot was telling a story about something on the computer and referred to the internet as "the web factory."
* Nov 12, 2012 - Elliot insisted on writing his letter to Santa three weeks ago. Landon wrote his today. When I asked Elliot if he wanted me to remind him what he asked for, he said, "No, Santa will just show me."
* Nov 27, 2012 - While I was cleaning up dinner, Elliot came in and said, "Can you come outside while I ride my bike?"
I responded, "Why do you need me out there?"
His response was, "I need someone to see how great I am."
* Dec. 6, 2012 - Landon and Elliot's primary teacher gave them little star ornaments, which lead to the following:
Shelci: Do you know what the star is for?
Elliot: It's the new star for Jesus.
Landon: It was over the shed.
* Jan 3, 2013 - While I was on the computer working on Primary stuff, the boys found a roll of yarn. I know feel like I am in "The Parent Trap." There is yarn wrapped around the kitchen tables, crisscrossed through the family room, around couches, down the hall, around door knobs and into their bedroom. Brooks is in for a surprise when he gets home. Ha!
* January 22, 2013 - Brooks: Don't you guys have a great mom? Can you imagine a better mother?
Elliot: Yeah, if she punched bad guys in the face.
* Jan 31, 2013 - Landon saw a girl at the park with a bell on her bike. He wanted one, but we don't have any. He found a bell Christmas ornament under the couch last week, and now he has it attached to his bike as a makeshift bike bell.

* Feb, 15, 2013 - I love that Landon and Elliot get the words "instructions" and "construction" mixed up with the word "destruction."
Example #1: While driving by a construction site tonight Landon said, "Well, that's a lot of destruction!"
Example #2: While putting together a new toy, one of them yelled, "You need to use the destructions!"

Shelci: Don't say that, it sounds weird.

Brooks: You mean Hawkeye?
Elliot: Hot Guy?
Brooks: Whatever.

Landon: Does it live in the midnight zone?
Elliot: Well, it lives in either the midnight zone or the darkest abyss.
Landon: Is it the vampire squid?
Elliot then pulled the vampire squid (lovingly referred to as Vampy) out of the bag with a huge grin on his face.

Shelci: Why?
Elliot: I don't want my name in the recycling bin.
* Sept 16, 2013 - Me: Landon, can you put your plate in the sink?
L: Okay.
L - (Turning away from me to talk to his brother): Elliot, can you do me favor? Will you put my plate in the sink?
