Law Review Vesting Banquet

Brooks and I were able to attend the Law Review Vesting Banquet on April 9. The current law review officers were given a big thank you and the new officers were introduced. It was nice to have an evening out without the boys and eat a great dinner.

Farragut Hike

Brooks and I can't wait to get out and explore the area more this summer and we got a head start last week when we went hiking in Farrugut State Park. We had gone camping there last year and wanted to explore the park a bit more. A few miles into the hike is a great lookout over Lake Pend Oreille. We kept going another mile or so past the lookout, but didn't quite make it all the way to the top of Bernard Peak.

Music Class

On Wednesdays, there is a woman in the area who offers a free music class for kids at her home. Landon and Elliot love it and we try to go as often as we can. When we walk in, there is a bucket of animal puppets to choose from and Elliot picks this cat 90% of the time. Landon isn't as specific in his choice. We sing some of the same songs every week and a few new ones each week too. They know a lot of the songs now and will do the actions with the songs. At the end of class, she has musical instruments they can play with. They love it!

Chuck E. Cheese

For FHE, we went to Chuck E. Cheese with the Jacobsons. Elliot's favorites were the air hockey (which he actually isn't too bad at), bowling, racing games with Dad and the dancing game. He would not even try any of the rides. Landon liked the rides, racing games and the bike that goes up high when you pedal.

Brooks told Landon to give Chuck E. a kiss and he went for it.

Easter Egg Hunt

All the egg hunters after the hunt: Harrison, Elliot, Steven, Dallin and Landon

Landon carried his eggs just like he carries his cars. He didn't find much use for the basket.

On his first try to get this egg, the tree scratched him in the head. I helped him find a less dangerous route.

Steven found a good one. The ones with candy inside are the best!

Ryder didn't find any eggs, but he still had fun.

These are some flowers that grow in Heidi's front yard. Heidi didn't even know they were there until they started to bloom. I told Mom I would take a picture for her.

Decorating Eggs

While the guys went to priesthood session, we decorated eggs with the kids. They lost interest quickly, but it was fun while it lasted. Elliot's hand is completely dyed in the above picture. He really enjoyed it.

Elliot wanted to do everything by himself and his hands were a bluish brown color when we were done. I love how proud he is of his egg.

Steven getting ready to dye an egg.

Landon chose cars over decorating eggs. Surprise, surprise!

I finally got him to some over to do a couple eggs and then he actually enjoyed it.

Ryder loves to find anything on the floor to eat. This time it was the crayons we were using to decorate the eggs.

Videos

***Warning to all you who don't like long videos. The first one is about 3 minutes.***

Elliot woke up early from his nap and it was a perfect time to spend some time with him. A few days prior to this video, he had brought the truck book to me to read. He opened to one page and said, "Grass cutter." Then he opened to another page and said, "Brush rig." I was shocked that he remembered the names. After that we read the books a few times and now he knows a bunch of the names for the trucks. I am glad he loves to read books!

They both sing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and each one sings it totally different. Elliot gets a few more of the words in there, but I love both of their versions. It has been difficult to get them on video singing it.

This chair spinning game is a new favorite around here. I think it is funny how Landon runs in circles while he pushes and Elliot stands and pushes.

Mobius Again

For Easter, we headed down to Riverfront Park for the Easter egg hunt. Unfortunately we were running behind and missed the whole thing. Instead we headed indoors away from the bitter cold wind and went to Mobius again. Landon tried painting this time, but quickly realized it wasn't his thing. Elliot wouldn't go anywhere near the painting stuff.

As soon as he got paint on his hands, he was done.

Abbie, on the other hand, loves the painting station and doesn't mind messy hands at all. She needs to give the boys a good talking to.

They have a Filipino exhibit with little shopping areas and food the kids can collect in baskets. Elliot really enjoyed this today. He also liked the train table as usual.

Silver Mountain

Brooks loves to snowboard and has wanted to buy a season pass for both winters we have been here. He finally got his wish and got a great deal on a season pass that works through the end of this ski season and next year as well. A good friend of ours, Tyler, bought a pass too and they have been going together. Brooks has already put it to good use and gone 3 or 4 times in the past few weeks. I went with him one of the times and tried skiing this time. I have tried snowboarding 5 or 6 times in the past, but ended up frustrated every time. Tyler showed me how to ski and I already like it much better than the board.

Brooks enjoys having someone to go with so one of them can man the camera while the other does sweet jumps.

Tyler went down a couple runs with me and then I felt comfortable enough to try it on my own a few times. I am definitely not ready for the black diamonds, or even the blue runs, but I'll enjoy the greens for now.
