Brooks' Glacier Trip

Brooks took a trip to Glacier National Park with his brothers and a guy in our ward. Since I wasn't there, I don't know what most of these pictures are, but it sure looks like it was fun.

They got snowed on the last day and headed home a bit earlier than expected.

Priest Lake

A few weeks ago we went to Priest Lake to go camping. Brooks had gone a few weeks earlier for his camp out with the priests and loved it. I was a little jealous of his trip and decided to plan our own trip. When we got there we set up camp, ate tin-foil dinners and then headed out to the lake to let the kids play on the beach. When we got back from that, we roasted marshmallows, ate s'mores and the kids and the moms went to bed. The guys headed out to the lake with their cameras for some night shots. While they were gone, I heard some noise just outside of the tent which grew louder and louder over time. Then I heard the water cooler being moved around and then tipped over the table. The camp host had warned us about bears and so I called Brooks and told him to hurry back. Sure enough, it was a bear. The bear was gone when the guys got back, but the paw prints were all over the table to prove what had happened. For the rest of the night the bear wandered around the campgrounds bothering various campers. In the morning there were even paw prints on our car. What an adventure for us! The kids slept through the whole thing and we made it out to tell the tale.

The next day we asked the kids what they wanted to do and they said, "Waterfall." They love waterfalls and so we headed out to find one. We took a short hike with them and went on a "bear hunt" during our hike. This was a highlight of the trip for them.

Grandpa & Grandma Here

After we got back from Waterton, we got to spend a few days with Grandma and Grandpa here in Spokane. We took them to some of our favorite spots and a few new places as well. We went to Liberty Lake one afternoon and let the boys play at the beach and at the park. Some of the new things we did were a trip to Frank's Diner and flying kites. It was great to have them here to visit!

Frank's Diner is a restaurant downtown that is inside an old train dining car. The thing the boys liked best about it was the real train track that runs right next to the diner.

We bought some kites at the dollar store and the boys loved them. They got the hang of it (a little) and we spent a wonderful afternoon at the park.

And no visit from Grandma would be complete without reading a lot of books.
