Riverside Park

Last Friday, we went to Riverside Park. This park is a state park that is on the northwest side of Spokane. As you are driving through city streets, you suddenly come across a beautiful preserved forest. It is a quick change in scenery. The park has a swinging bridge that crosses over the river. We packed a lunch to eat at the park and did a little exploring. There was almost no one there. We keep finding new little places we enjoy around Spokane!

During the trip here, Dallin started doing something really funny. He asks a question like, "Can I have chips?" and then answers the question himself with the answer he wants (usually "yes"). Brooks wanted to go exploring and Dallin didn't want to be left behind. He said something like, "Dallin go with Brooks? (short pause) Yes." How can you say no to that? I went on part of the hike with them as well which had great views of the river and bridge.

Landon and Elliot both recently started laughing. We have a couple of videos of Landon laughing, but have not got Elliot on camera yet. He stops as soon as the camera comes out. A couple of weeks ago Landon was belly laughing for Brooks and Nanay while I was gone, but I still haven't seen him laugh that hard. Maybe one of these days...

Baseball Game

Last week, Brooks had orientation for law school. In the evenings, they planned family activities for the new law students. On Wednesday, the law school gave away tickets for a baseball game for the local team. We left the boys with Mom and Heidi and went to the game. We had a great time and got to meet quite a few law school families. Coincidentally, one of the families there has two and a half year old twin boys. It was fun watching them play together and picture my boys in just a couple of years. I have no clue what actually happened during the game, but enjoyed getting to know some new people. I exchanged numbers with a few of the girls and we even went out to dinner with two of the families on Saturday night.

Bike Ride with Brooks

While we had a people around to watch the boys, Brooks took me out on a bike ride. We didn't got too far, but he showed me where he has been riding. What a beautiful trail right by our house! My bum still hurt three days later from the bike ride. I am definitely not used to sitting on a bike seat. Ouch!

Riverfront Park

Last Thursday, we went to Riverfront Park with my mom, Heidi, Dallin and Steven. It was a little cold and sprinkled on and off while we were there. It was crazy to put warm hats on the boys in August.

Dallin and Steven were happy just to be out of the car. They had fun sliding down the red wagon and playing on the swings. Dallin went exploring with my mom and everytime he saw something he thought was cool, he would say, "Nice!" Steven is just learning to walk and we had to baby proof our house while he was here.

Visit from Mom and Heidi

My mom, Heidi, Dallin and Steven drove up to see us last week. Dallin did great in the car, but I think Steven was cursing my name by the time they got here. Two days of driving is not exactly fun for anyone. We had fun playing and exploring Spokane. There was lots of crying going on around this house, but lots of laughing as well. What can you expect with three babies and a two year old? They all left this morning and now I may actually have time blog about what we did. I am already lonely:(

Even Elliot was excited about Brooks starting law school orientation this week. Elliot wanted to wear his Gonzaga Bulldogs outfit to show support for his Daddy.

Mother's Lounge Envy

I realized just how nice my old mother's lounge was when I got to my new church building. Those brand new Queen Creek buildings are so beautiful, including the mother's lounge. I miss the nice, comfy rocking chairs already.

Raspberries

On Tuesday, I went to enrichment for my new ward. I was invited to go pick raspberries the next morning with a few of the women in my ward. There is a farm close by and it is harvesting time. It was good to get to know some women from my ward and the fruit was delicious. When I got home, I asked Brooks if he liked raspberries. He said not really, but I had him try some anyway. Later he said, "I don't think I've ever had raspberries like this before." We both really enjoyed them. Yesterday, I made jam with all the berries we hadn't eaten yet. The best part is the raspberries were $1.35 a pound!

Bike Rides

Within a week of being here, Brooks bought a bike. He has been out exploring almost everyday since. The "Centennial Trail" is very close to our house and runs miles and miles through Spokane following the river. These are some pictures from one of his rides. There are a lot of geese that follow the river as well. I have never seen so many "flying V's."

We Had Fun While It Lasted

Well, we sure had fun with Dad & Mom C. and Tannis here. I am especially grateful for all the help with the boys and getting things unpacked around the house. It is starting to feel more like a home. We have been without our help for a couple of days. I almost forgot what it is like to be in charge of 2 babies. We sure had fun playing and will miss them being around. I can not say thank you enough. I love the picture of Emery and Ian with Landon and Elliot. This was taken the afternoon before we left for Spokane. They will be such good friends as they get older.

On Sunday, we went to visit the Hawker's. Brooks served his mission with their son and has stayed at their house during his previous Spokane trips. They came over Friday evening before I arrived and helped unpack boxes and set up furniture. How nice to get here and have my bed set up and made.





We went on lots of walks!
