West Fork Trail

A few days after I hiked in Sedona with my mom and Chereese, Brooks and I took the boys back to do the same hike. I loved the hike and wanted to show it to Brooks, plus we wanted to get to the end this time. It did not disappoint. The drive in was beautiful and the hike was perfect. We may need to make this an annual October tradition.

The hike starts with a short stroll to get back into the canyon. Then we crossed over a stream numerous times as we hiked. The boys loved navigating  the rocks over the water. We had a few minor slips, but no major spills. At one point the canyon opens up a bit and there is a nice spot to stop and take a break. There is a small amount of running water there. The boys could have stayed there all day throwing sticks and leaves into the water and watching them float downstream.

The leaves on the trees were starting to change. It got more and more beautiful the farther back into the canyon we got. We have missed all the hiking we did in Washington and this reminded us of that a bit. It was good to get out and explore. What an amazing world we were given!

Trip with Mom and Chereese

In October, the boys and I tagged along on a trip with Chereese and Mom during Chereese's fall break. We did an amazing hike in Sedona the first day. We didn't make it all the way to the end, but it was perfect for the kids. There was lots of creek hopping which little boys love.

After the hike, we drove to Flagstaff to stay the night. I think both boys fell out of bed at different times during the night. The next day we drove to the Grand Canyon. We saw Dean while we were there and did a very short hike into the canyon. The boys weren't too impressed by it. Maybe some day they will appreciate it magnitude. One of my favorite parts of the day was the drive to the canyon. The fall colors were everywhere and the trees were stunning.
